Addressing the Unstructured Component of Big Data: Delivering Context and Understanding from Mountains of Data

Janya Webinar: Wednesday, 27 July, 2 PM Eastern, 11 AM Pacific

There is a growing recognition within government markets of the importance of extracting information locked away in unstructured data. In recent years, over $10 billion in government efforts have required some form of text analytics as a key component of the desired solution. The range of programs across the U.S. Government include varied efforts such as financial fraud identification, epidemiological analysis, scientific and technical information gathering, human socio-cultural and behavioral modeling, command and control, and open source monitoring.

The range of programs across the US Government include varied efforts such as financial fraud identification, epidemiological analysis, scientific and technical information gathering, human socio-cultural and behavioral modeling, command and control, and open source monitoring.

While retrieval, storage, and indexing the volume of Big Data are important challenges, that data remains of little value until you can understand and act upon it. An information enterprise also requires context and semantics for that data to be truly valuable.

Join us to learn how Janya can help tame the Big Data problem through a range of domain and language-specific solutions based upon its flexible Semantex™ text analytics platform.

In this live webcast, presenters Dr. Rohini Srihari, Janya CEO and expert in information retrieval, and John Weaver, VP of Business Development at Janya will:

  • Discuss the unstructured component of the Big Data problem and the role it plays in the government information enterprise
  • Demonstrate several applications designed to empower information managers trying to tackle elements of the Big Data problem
  • Discuss new state of the art technologies and tools Janya has developed to support user-driven customization of Semantex™, and interfaces for integration into analytical environments

Janya CEO and University at Buffalo scientist Dr. Rohini Srihari talks about natural language processing and sentiment analysis capabilities developed based on Janya Semantex platform…

Excerpts from the media on Janya’s recent multilingual text analytics work..

Janya has received a lot of interest and attention recently, especially due to its multilingual text analytics work.

Here’re some excerpts from NPR’s article covering collaborative work between Janya and the University at Buffalo

When you are able to figure out what the topic of the conversation is, what kind of sentiment is being expressed around that, that’s the goal of what we are trying to do.

- Rohini Srihari, Janya CEO

Janya’s technology for languages like Urdu can provide insight into regions like Pakistan and parts of India where it is widely spoken.

A lot of the conversation, believe it or not, was about cricket — that seems to be on everyone’s mind all the time.

Within-language analysis allows Janya’s Semantex platform to capture language-specific nuances such as sentiment that may not be captured by first translating to English and using English-specific sentiment mining tools.
